My Lessons from the Book "Shoe Dog"

Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike
  by Phil Knight

If you want to hear a business story of a man who built a business with a more than $34 billion annual revenue nowadays and world-known products, then "Shoe Dog" is a book you need to read. It is a quite exciting memoir that gives lessons of life and business. I highly recommend this book, and I think every reader can enjoy reading it.

In his book, Phil Knight reveals his goals, decisions, struggles, lessons, and feelings during the process of building his company, introduces the people and events related to his business. Eventually, the reader learns how Nike came to the world. Those stories behind the scene provide valuable lessons to learn.

Here, I listed some of my lessons from this book.
  1. Have a goal bigger than money. Earning money should not be your last stop on your way in business.

  2. Get support from people when you need help. Talk to people, communicate more.

  3. Start small and develop it gradually.

  4. Courage is essential, be courageous enough to step forward in uncertain ways.

  5. Good partners and people who can help and stay with you in your tough times matter a lot.

  6. Run or do some active sports that can transform your emotions after doing it. Phil Knight practices long-distance running.

  7. Learn to trust your people. Give them a task and receive the outcome.

  8. A successful business must cross borders, expand it into the other parts of the world.

Shoe Dog is a very interesting and enjoyable book. If you are an entrepreneur or business owner you should definitely read this book.
