Psycho-Cybernetics

An excellent book about how to change self-image, self-esteem, and mindset. Psycho-Cybernetics is one of the famous and early self-help books. It was published in 1960 by cosmetic surgeon Maxwell Maltz.
The book highlights the importance of imagination, programming subconscious mind, refining the beliefs that directly control us, and establishing peace in a mind. I highly recommend reading this book. Here, I listed some of my lessons from this book.
Self-image comes from our previous experiences and thoughts. It can be modified by changing our thoughts and experiencing the things in our imagination. The subconscious mind can lead a better self-image if we can picture our best self and success patterns in our minds.
Find a sense of peace in your mind. Events may cause a disturbance and an overthinking about the things in mind. There are things that we have to react and not to react. Learn not to react outside factors to build a reaction control skill. When you react, act calmly without anxiety and excitement. The mind fails to work with full capacity in nervous or crisis moments.
Imagination and imitating can build crisis-proof behavior, so do practice to imagine crisis moments and try to respond correctly to the situation. This produces correct behavior for the situation and when that moment happens mind feels less nervous and works as it was taught in practice before.
Make 'I can handle' character, confront the hardship, show the character, do not be weak in front of the problem. By this, slowly you can get control of the situation and overcome the hardship you are facing.
Build a success pattern in your mind with regularly feeling and imagining. Feel that as you have already reached the goal in your objection. This process should be slowly and gradually, do not force yourself. A mind needs time to digest that feeling and build appropriate connections. The author mentions that Pavlov was asked his last advice about success on his deathbed, "passion and gradualness" he replied.
You will discover many useful ideas and exercises in this book. Once you read it and apply the practices mentioned in it, you can feel the changes in your mind and your thinking patterns.
The concepts like believing positive thoughts, imagining the success patterns, and being okay with tense situations can help to develop sound behaviour and the right mental state.
