Takeaways: Originals by Adam Grant

Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World by Adam Grant

The book explains some of the ways of becoming a creative and an original.
Here are my takeaways:

Default is not the only the option. Search the opportunities, try to do your work in different and easy ways. It is not always correct what ordinary people usually do, there is nothing wrong to try other options to be a creative.

Increase your craft/idea in number. If you write a book or a post in blog, write many. If you produce something, produce several versions of your products. Through this process the chance of producing an original work will increase. We do not know which one could be the best achievement and people may like it more.

Diversify your domain. Do not limit yourself in one thing. Try other skills and experiences. Changing a job, working for other companies, doing different projects may improve your vision and knowledge, and provide valuable experiences to become a creative.

Procrastinate intentionally. Working on craft for a long period of time provides more improvement on our work and outcome might be an extraordinary achievement. Similarly, long term thinking on the topic will give more correct solution than quick decision.

Be aware of you risks. It is not required to retire from a day work to be a blogger. While working full time at the office, we can run side projects, test our ideas, write a blog posts. Once we are ready with our project, then we can make changes. Calculate your potential risk and try to eliminate it.

Familiarize people with your idea. To get positive reactions, ideas should be introduced to people slowly and repeatedly. People may react differently to unfamiliar concepts at the beginning, so familiarize them.
